Description
“As the Rain Falls” is an autumn still life with yellow rubber boots full of leaves.
What the picture shows
A pair of boots stands in the centre with an armful of autumn leaves sticking out of them — maple, oak, ochre and red — mixed with twigs of blue and red berries and ears of wheat. A lantern with glass panes and a red candle stands to the left, beside a red enamel mug. Fallen leaves, acorns and berries are scattered on the ground. The coffee canvas stays as the background and supports the warm autumn palette. The leaves are worked in warm ochre and red shades, and the rubber of the boots in even yellow areas with a highlight. The kit holds 31 thread colours and 63 m of cotton.
