Cross Stitch Kit "Free carrots"
Description
“Free carrots” shows a rabbit in a flat cap wheeling a barrow of carrots and setting them out for sale. The idea is playful and the drawing is light.
What the picture shows
The animal leans on the barrow, seen in profile: white fur with grey shadows, long ears, a grey-blue cap, blue work clothes and yellow gloves. The barrow is grey-blue with a large wheel, and a pile of carrots with green tops sticks out of it. Below lies a wooden sign reading FREE CARROTS, with a few more carrots on the ground. The drawing is soft, with few shadows; the background is not stitched, so the white fabric works as light space around the figure. There are 30 thread colours. The carrots show lengthwise grooves and tufts of green tops, each with its own bend. The signboard has cracks and knots, the rabbit’s cap is pushed slightly to one side, and the gloves are worked in two yellows with shadow in the folds.
