Royal Tapestry needles No. 26 have a blunt tip and are made specifically for cross stitch.

What it is

The tip of such a needle is rounded: it does not pierce the threads of the canvas but pushes them apart and lands exactly in the hole between the weaves. That keeps the stitches even and stops the Aida from fraying. The needle is 34 mm long, and size 26 suits fine Aida counts. Two needles sit on a card under film, and the pack carries a red Royal label marked Tapestry, with a note about the nickel plating. The price is for one pack.
