Description
“The yard master” is a white goose in dungarees and a straw hat, holding a bunch of wild flowers.
What the picture shows
The bird stands at full height with one wing tucked into a pocket; it wears blue denim dungarees, a pale shirt with rolled sleeves and a neckerchief. The straw hat is pushed to one side with a feather behind the band. In its other wing the goose holds daisies and blue cornflowers. The orange beak and feet give a bright accent, while the background is barely touched with blue and beige: the white canvas remains the main ground. The denim is worked in two blues with pale seams, and the feathers in white with grey shadows. The thread length is 51 m.
