“Secret garden” shows a black raven among pink peonies.
What the picture shows
The bird sits in the centre with its head turned aside; the black plumage is worked with blue and violet glints so that it never reads as flat. Large pink peonies with dense petals open around it, along with buds, small white flowers, branches with brown seed pods and green leaves. The composition spreads horizontally, and the white canvas between the branches stays clean. The peony petals run from pale pink to crimson, and the branches and pods are given in brown lines. The kit holds 33 thread colours and 74 m of cotton.
