Description

“Canary Song” shows a yellow bird on an old cage among cherry blossom.

What the picture shows

The canary perches on top of the cage in profile, its plumage worked in yellow and ochre shades with grey shadows on the wing. The cage is openwork, with a little door and a ring at the top, its bars rendered in fine pale grey lines. Branches of pink blossom, buds and small leaves embrace it from both sides. The white count 18 canvas stays as the background, which keeps the whole composition light. The bars of the cage are worked in fine lines one or two stitches wide, and the blossom in small pink patches. The kit holds 47 thread colours and 109 m of cotton.
