Description
“Faraway mountains” shows a mountain stream, pines and a snowy peak in the distance.
What the picture shows
The picture is built in depth: water runs down over rocks in the foreground and breaks into white foam, with blue and violet flowers and grasses on either side. Tall pines and firs in several shades of green rise beyond, and through a gap between them appears a grey-blue snow-covered summit. The sky is light, with white clouds. The colours are natural, without sharp contrasts and with many half-tones. The water is worked in pale vertical strokes and the conifer needles in short rows of three greens. The kit holds 42 thread colours and 150 m of cotton.
