Description

“Mediterranean reverie” shows a blue shuttered window under an orange tree. The framing is narrow, as if shot from across the street.

What the picture shows

The window is in the centre: deep blue wooden shutters with horizontal slats, yellow curtains gathered at the sides behind the glass and a few small objects on the sill. The wall around it is pale grey, with an uneven plaster surface. Above and to the left spreads a tree with dark green leaves and round orange fruit, its branches reaching into the frame. Below is a tiled canopy in a warm terracotta shade, and a bush with yellow flowers grows at the bottom. The sky is blue with white clouds; the fabric is stitched completely. The shutter slats are worked alternately in lighter and darker blue, so they look as if the sun falls on them. The oranges on the tree differ in size and shade, and a clear-edged shadow lies on the wall under the canopy.
