Description

“Windmills” shows a line of white mills with red roofs on the hills and a road running between them. The widest design in the batch.

What the picture shows

Two large mills with four sails each stand on the right: white cylindrical towers, conical red roofs, small windows. Four more diminish into the distance along the ridge of the hill. The slopes are worked in ochre, olive and warm sand, with a band of grass on top. The road enters from the lower left corner and disappears between the hills. The sky is blue, worked in sparse diagonal strokes that let the cloth show through. Twenty-three colours and sixty-three metres of floss. The sails are worked in thin lines with almost no fill, so they seem transparent against the sky.
