Description

“When the Sea Is a Dream” is a narrow vertical panorama with a cottage on a cliff and waves below.

What the picture shows

Tall clouds pile up at the top — white, grey and lilac, lit from behind. Beneath them, on a green headland, stands a white house with a blue roof and a red outbuilding, another roof showing further back. The slope then falls to the sea: turquoise water, foam on the rocks, dark boulders. The foreground is filled with lavender spikes, white flowers and grasses worked in large soft patches. Clouds and water take up most of the area and are stitched in large flowing zones, while the house and rocks are fine detail. The kit holds 39 thread colours and 151 m of cotton.
