Description

“We are in a hurry to greet” shows five mice marching in a row, each carrying its own present. A simple, cheerful design to start with.

What the picture shows

The mice are reddish brown with big pink ears and long tails, walking from left to right along a light blue line of snow. The first carries a posy of blue forget-me-nots, the second a blue box with a yellow bow, the third a yellow parcel, the fourth a green box with a red ribbon, and the last pulls a blue balloon and an envelope. The colours are few and clean — ochre, blue, green and yellow on white. Cross stitch covers the shapes solidly, and the ground around them stays light. The figures are the same size and lined up in a single row, so the piece reads as a small procession.
