Description

“Watercolour camomiles” is a handful of white daisies among colour washes, as if painted with a wet brush.

What the picture shows

The flowers gather into a loose bouquet just below centre: white and cream petals, yellow centres, a few buds still closed. Stems and narrow leaves run down in green and turquoise strokes. The background is a blur of lemon, lilac, peach and pale blue with no firm edges, one colour flowing into the next. Those transitions carry the whole piece: thirty-nine floss shades at a simple difficulty level. The stitching is solid and the canvas is covered. The petals are only nominally white: they carry blue, grey and lilac shadows that shape each flower.
