Description

“Water`s Shimmer” shows a blue frog sitting on a broad leaf among bubbles and flowers. The piece is light and watercolour-like.

What the picture shows

The frog is in the centre: a blue body shading into turquoise, dark specks scattered over the back, feet pressed to the leaf, large eyes with an orange rim. Below it are green leaves with clear veins, with a pink and an orange flower beside them. A pale blue arc with small bubbles rises to the upper left, and yellow and green stalks with tiny blossom stand on the right. At the bottom the colour runs down in thin drips, leaving the white fabric open. There are 49 thread colours, yet the level is rated simple: most areas are large and plain. The frog’s skin is not one colour: a gradation runs along the back from deep blue to turquoise, the feet are lighter, and the toes have rounded pads. The bubbles are worked in a few stitches with a white highlight, and each one is a different size.
