Description

“Trio” shows three white blossoms on long stems in a tall glass, set against a dark wall. A restrained design with almost no colour.

What the picture shows

The flowers open at different heights: one faces the viewer, the other two turn aside, with broad petals, a yellow centre and a few stamens. They are white only nominally — grey, ochre and faintly pink shadows are what shape them. The stems are thin, with elongated dark green leaves reaching beyond the bouquet. The glass is rendered in translucent grey-lilac stitches, with the stems and water showing through. The background splits into two zones: a warm ochre patch behind the flowers and a cool grey-violet field below. Cross stitch runs solidly and the canvas is fully covered.
