Description

“Tree of life” — a tree of life in folk manner: a symmetrical bush of tulips, pomegranates and hearts.

What the picture shows

A trunk rises from a vessel at the bottom and pairs of branches spread symmetrically from it. At their ends are stylised tulips and split pomegranates in crimson, purple and dark violet, with small flowers, berries and hearts between them. The leaves are long and dark green with clear serrations. A large open flower closes the composition at the top. The drawing is flat, without shading: every shape has an even colour and a dark border, and that is what carries its folk character. Nine thread colours across 83 m. The fabric between the branches is left plain. Every shape is outlined, and those are the lines that need the steadiest hand. The vessel at the bottom is narrower than the crown, so the whole shape reaches upwards.
