Description

“Tender feelings” shows two decorative elephants standing trunk to trunk inside a wreath of ears of grain.

What the picture shows

The elephants face one another and are almost mirror images: the left one pink and yellow, the right one lime and turquoise. Their bodies are not filled solidly but divided into colour fields scattered with small flowers, dots and leaves. The left one carries a floral wreath on its back, the right one a blue bow. Their trunks are raised and brought together, and that is where the centre of the composition forms. A wreath of golden ears runs around in a half circle, with yellow and pink flowers below. The background is white and barely stitched; metallic thread glints on the ears. The ears of the wreath are worked in short slanting stitches, so the half circle stays light and does not press on the figures.
