Description

“Sweet dreams, baby” shows a child asleep on a yellow crescent moon with a puppy dozing beside it.

What the picture shows

The child lies with its head on a white pillow under a quilt of diamonds — red, pink, orange and yellow, pieced like patchwork — with reddish hair showing above it. The moon is large and yellow, its horn curling upwards, and takes up almost the full width of the piece. A ginger puppy has settled on it near the lower edge. Small golden stars are scattered around. The blue canvas itself serves as the ground: the night sky is not stitched, which keeps the whole piece light.
