Description

“Sunflowers” shows three large sunflowers lying on a table beside a basket of wild flowers.

What the picture shows

The flowers face the viewer: petals in yellows from lemon to honey, centres dark brown with fine seeds. The leaves are large and green, dried at the edges in places. Behind them stands a wicker basket with yellow flower heads and white and lilac wild flowers spilling out. On the right, daisies lie on crumpled white cloth. The wall behind the table is planked, grey-brown, with soft shadows. The whole surface, background included, is worked in cross stitch.
