Description

“Summer muse” shows a lilac lotus with dragonfly wings radiating symmetrically from it. The design is built like a hanging ornament.

What the picture shows

An open flower fills the upper part: petals from pale pink to deep purple, laid in layers. Below and to the sides are four pairs of transparent wings, stitched in blue, turquoise and lilac with fine veins. Lower down the dragonfly bodies turn into long tapering tails, with threads of small beads hanging from them. The silvery lines are worked in metallic thread, and separate accents are picked out with beads and glass stones. The white fabric is left as background: the composition is meant to hang in the air rather than sit on a solid ground. The veins on the wings run as a net and gradually thicken towards the base — the finest part of the work. The lotus petals are laid in three layers, each lighter than the last, and the strings of beads below differ in length and do not match one another.
