Description

“Spring equinox” — night and day in one frame: a starry vortex above and a sun rising over a field.

What the picture shows

The upper half is a dark blue sky curled into broad spirals, with a pale ring of moon at its centre and a scatter of small stars. Lower down the sky lightens and turns into a warm orange sun disc with straight rays spreading in every direction. Below it lies a stylised earth: bands of turquoise water, green and ochre fields, small flowers and grasses worked in short even stitches. The composition is built on the opposition of a cold top and a warm bottom. Twenty-six thread colours across 179 m — one of the longest kits in this batch. The fabric at the edges is left plain. The moon and the sun stand on the same vertical, with a notional horizon line running between them.
