What the picture shows

The animal stands on its hind legs, turned towards the viewer: ears up, the face drawn in fine strokes of light brown and beige, the whiskers thin. The clothes are simple and warm in colour — a blue jacket with a pink bow and a yellow apron with a stitched pattern. A basket full of yellow and orange primroses hangs from one paw, and small wild flowers grow beside the rabbit. A band of green grass is worked in lively stitches underfoot. Twenty-five thread colours across 44 m, at a simple level. The fabric behind the figure stays plain and lightly toned. The apron carries a small pattern that repeats the ornament on the basket. The basket is tightly woven and its pattern repeats over its whole surface. The flowers in it are small and gathered in a bunch.
