Description

“Sommelier's Dream” shows a bottle of wine, a glass, grapes and cheese on a windowsill, with Tuscan hills beyond the arch. A still life and a landscape in one piece.

What the picture shows

The window arch is built of pale stone, with a green sprig of small leaves winding across the top. Through the opening you see a valley: bands of vineyards, cypresses, tiled farm roofs and blue mountains on the horizon; the sky is light with sparse clouds. On the sill stand a bottle with red foil on the neck and a white label, a glass of rosé, a bunch of dark grapes and a wedge of cheese on a patterned blue napkin. The fabric is stitched completely: the coffee ground does not show through, and the warm range rests on the thread. A small inscription and a border are stitched on the bottle label, and the stem shows through the rosé in the glass. The grapes vary in shade, from blue to almost black, while the cheese shows holes and a thin rind. The napkin carries its own geometric pattern.
