“Remembering” — tall stylised plants on black: poppy heads, a thistle, a dandelion and a peacock feather.

What the picture shows

The stems rise almost vertically from the bottom, each with its own head: dry poppy pods, opened buds, a spiky blue thistle, a large dandelion with its clock scattering and a peacock feather with its characteristic eye. The colours are muted — terracotta, mustard, smoky turquoise, old gold — while the outlines and thin stalks are laid in metallic thread, silver and gold. The dandelion’s down is made of separate long stitches with dots at their ends. Thirty-four thread colours across 75 m. The black canvas stays open and carries all the graphic work. The stems differ in height and lean, so the row never looks lined up with a ruler. The peacock feather rises highest and sets the upper limit of the composition.
