Description

“Redcurrant Croissant” shows a fresh croissant and clusters of red currants. The composition is round, arranged for a hoop.

What the picture shows

The pastry lies diagonally in the centre: the crust is stitched in shades from pale yellow to dark caramel, and the layers of dough and crisp edges read clearly. To the right and above are clusters of currants on thin twigs, the berries translucent red with small light highlights; a few have scattered below. Blue-grey sprigs and small leaves between them add a cool note to the composition. The background is not stitched: the white fabric is left as a light table. In the photo the piece is shown in a hoop — the hoop is not included in the kit. The layers of dough on the croissant run in a spiral, each slightly darker than the last — that is how the crispness is conveyed. The currants are translucent: each shows a light core and a dark speck of stalk, and thin twigs link them into clusters.
