Description

“Owls” shows two owls on a branch at night, in blues and violets with a large moon.

What the picture shows

The owl in front is brown and violet, its feathers ruffled and its round eyes amber; it looks straight at the viewer. Behind it stands a second, pale grey, with ear tufts — its yellow eyes are slightly narrowed. Spruce branches spread around them: green, white and violet boughs under snow. A pale moon hangs in the upper right and the ground is deep blue, dotted with small light specks. The feathers are worked in long strips, which is what makes them look ruffled. The whole surface is stitched.
