Description

“Night guest” — a silvery cat sits among night flowers under a thin crescent moon.

What the picture shows

The cat is shown in profile with its head raised; the fur is stitched in blue, grey and near white with short strokes, so it looks fluffy and cold to the touch. Stems with small flowers rise around it — pale lilac, white, blue — and several tall blooms reach above the animal’s back. A thin crescent shines at the upper left and the space around is sown with stars: some worked in thread, some made of PRECIOSA #10 beads that really catch the light. Twenty-seven thread colours across 76 m. The black canvas stays open and gives the piece its depth. The cat’s tail is wrapped around its paws, and that closed line holds the lower part of the composition. The flowers reach about to the cat’s shoulder and never cover its face.
