Cross Stitch Kit "Night contrast"
Description
“Night contrast” shows orange flowers against a large moon in a starry sky. Warm against cool is the main device here.
What the picture shows
The upper part is taken up by the moon: a light grey disc with craters, outlined by a thin crescent and a few strokes. The sky around it is deep blue, with small white specks of stars. Stems with open orange flowers rise from below — the petals run from yellow to almost red, and the centres are dark. The leaves and grass at the bottom are deep green, nearly black. The composition is stitched solidly: sky, moon and plants are all covered, while thin outline lines are left along the edges and give the piece a graphic feel. There are only 22 thread colours — the design rests on contrast rather than shading. The craters on the moon are marked in several greys, and a thin crescent along the edge gives the disc volume. The flowers below differ in how far they have opened: some are fully unfurled, others only taking shape, and each shows a darker heart with fine stamens.
