Description

“Lucky” is a red-furred dog's head in profile, tongue out, with flowers instead of a background. A portrait in warm coral tones.

What the picture shows

The head turns to the left: pointed ears, a pale stripe along the muzzle, a black nose, half-closed amber eyes and a small pink tongue. The fur is worked in ginger, terracotta and mauve-grey with cool reflections on the cheeks. Coral flowers with yellow centres, white and lilac clusters and dark burgundy leaves crowd in on the right and below. The background is light with faint splashes. The stitching is solid, the cloth is covered, and forty-six shades give the soft transitions. The fur runs in two ranges at once: warm ginger down the centre of the face and cool mauve at the edges.
