Description

“Lord of the mountain” shows a green dragon seated on a rock above a mountain valley. The pose is calm, without aggression.

What the picture shows

The dragon is turned in profile: a scaly back with sharp ridges, folded membrane wings, a long tail coiled around the stone. The scales are stitched in several shades of green — from olive to nearly emerald — with ochre highlights on the chest. The rock beneath is grey-beige and cracked, with grass and small yellow flowers growing below. Sharp peaks and a tower show behind, and the sky is light with drawn-out grey clouds. The ecru fabric is left as background in places, which makes the distant planes look misty. The scales on the dragon’s back are larger and grow finer on the neck, while thin membranes with dark veins show on the wings. Moss and cracks appear on the stone beneath, and a sharp tower in the distance is worked in only a few pale stitches.
