Cross Stitch Kit "Little scout"
Description
“Little scout” shows a hedgehog climbing out of a blue flowerpot and looking around. A wreath of daisies, cornflowers and pink asters surrounds him.
What the picture shows
The hedgehog sits slightly above the centre, his muzzle light, his spines worked in short dark stitches of varying length — this is what creates the fur effect. The pot below him is blue, with a wavy ornament and white dots. Flowers embrace the composition in a semicircle: large daisies at the top, blue cornflowers at the sides, pink asters in the corners, grass and small yellow specks below. The palette plays warm against cool: blues against ochre and warm grey. The background is not stitched, so the white fabric works as air between the flowers. Look closer and small things appear: pale claws on the hedgehog’s feet, a thin shadow on the side of the pot, a few fallen petals in the grass below. The cornflowers are stitched in two blues, so they look three-dimensional even in a flat drawing.
