Description

“La Dolce Vita” shows a pink scooter by an old door overgrown with flowers. The narrow vertical framing holds the whole scene.

What the picture shows

The scooter stands in the lower third, seen from the side: a rounded pale pink body, a black seat, a chrome mirror and headlight. Behind it is a door with an arched glass panel and dark grille, set in an ochre wall with uneven plaster. Above the door and along the whole left side, pink and lilac flowers spread over green branches and almost cover the top edge. Cobblestones below are laid in small grey and beige stitches. Count 18 fabric and 45 thread colours give a very dense texture — the fabric is stitched completely. A light highlight runs along the whole side of the scooter’s body, and the wheel spokes are worked in thin single lines. The flowers on the wall are laid in several layers of different shades, with dark gaps showing between them here and there — that is what gives the growth its depth.
