Description

“Key to Feelings” shows an antique key decorated with roses. The narrow, elongated format underlines the shape of the object itself.

What the picture shows

The bow of the key is made as an openwork setting: curls, small pearls along the outline, insets in blue and lilac. Three large pink roses with yellow centres have opened inside and around it, with green leaves and small buds beside them. The shaft is long, stitched in ochre and warm gold, and ends in a bit with two teeth. The grey fabric is not stitched: on it the metal looks more restrained than on white, while the pink loses none of its intensity. There are 26 thread colours. The setting of the key is openwork: gaps remain between the curls, showing the grey fabric through them. The roses have curled hearts and several petals bent back, while scratches and wear on the shaft are marked in a darker thread.
