Description

A small golden dragon dozes on a stack of books — “Keeper of Wisdom” is about exactly that kind of guard.

What the picture shows

The dragon is curled up: one membranous wing raised, the tail wrapped around the spines of the books, the muzzle resting on its paws. The scales are stitched in warm ochre and golden shades, while the crest and claws are picked out in silver metallic thread. Three books in green and brown bindings lie underneath, with grass and small flowers pushing up beside them. The coffee canvas stays as a background and reads like old parchment. The books are worked as even rectangles and the dragon in finer gradations, so the piece falls into two parts with different rhythms. The thread length is 52 m.
