What the picture shows

A figure in a helmet and dark jacket sits on a heavy motorcycle with a round headlamp, luggage on the pillion and thick tyres; dust rises from the wheels. The road runs downhill and disappears round a bend. A sharp mountain in blue and grey rises behind the rider, white veins on its slopes; dark firs and young trees with reddish leaves stand on either side. The sky is pale, with broad strokes of cloud and a bird circling in it. Thirty-one thread colours across 149 m. The coffee-toned canvas stays open at the edges and gives the whole piece a warm undertone. The dust under the wheels is made of pale, sparse stitches, and that is what gives the sense of movement.
