Description

“In the world of colors” — a pink flower with a graphic outline, as if drawn in pencil and tinted.

What the picture shows

At the centre are one open flower and one leaning bud on a long stem. The petals are translucent pink with crimson veins and almost white edges; the heart is darker, with fine stamens. The outline deliberately misses the colour: a thin red line runs beside the petals, and loose loops and dots trail from it like a pencil mark. The stem is green with two curved leaves and a light shadow below. Seventeen thread colours across 35 m of thread: a small kit, a light and almost graphic piece. The fabric is left plain. There is less colour here than white space, and the lightness of the piece rests on that balance. The shadow under the stem is the only grey patch.
