Description

“In the arms of winter” shows a sheep in a knitted jumper, hat and boots standing in a snowy forest. The piece is warm and slightly amused.

What the picture shows

The animal faces the viewer: a pale muzzle with a black nose, ears to the side, a red hat with green leaves and berries on the head. The jumper is striped in reds and greens, patterned with waves and diamonds; a long scarf is thrown over it, and red boots are on the feet. The wool is worked in short light grey stitches. Spruces in muted blue-green stand behind, and snow lies below. Small accents — berries and snowflakes — are picked out with beads, supplied in the kit separately from the threads. The jumper pattern uses several motifs — waves, diamonds, zigzags — all worked in different colours, so counting takes care. The scarf falls in folds, the boots show laces, and small white specks on the hat look like falling snow.
