Description

“In the Apple Paradise” is a window thrown open onto an orchard, with apples and home preserves on the sill.

What the picture shows

Through the open casements you see rows of apple trees heavy with red fruit, green grass and clouds above the garden. A still life is gathered on the sill: a blue bowl of apples, a clay jug, a glass of dark red juice, jars of compote, a dish of berries, a cup and a jar of brushes. A wooden table top, checked cloth and a branch of apples above tie it together. With 58 thread colours the light and shade run smoothly. The glass of the jars is given with pale highlights and fine lines, and the apples with three or four shades of red. The total thread length is 148 m.
