“In search of a holiday” — a ginger rabbit beside a wicker basket of Easter eggs and spring flowers.

What the picture shows

The rabbit sits on the right, turned towards the basket; its fur is stitched in warm ginger, ochre and grey, with a white patch on the chest, pink showing through the ears and a violet bow at the neck. On the left stands a tall wicker basket with an arched handle tied with a lilac ribbon; pastel eggs and small flowers show inside. Yellow, white and pink primroses rise on thin stems to the right of the rabbit. A band of green grass runs underfoot. Thirty-two thread colours across 72 m, and beads in two colours set the shine on the eggs. The fabric behind the figures stays plain. The basket and the rabbit are about the same height, so the composition is balanced horizontally. The handle of the basket arches and repeats the line of the rabbit’s back.
