Description

“Honey colors” — a branch of apple blossom in a warm circle, with two bees on it.

What the picture shows

The composition is set into an irregular circle of honey-beige. A branch with white flowers crosses it diagonally: the petals are faintly pink with yellow stamens, and small buds sit beside them. The leaves are olive and grey-green with clear veins, spread along the whole branch. Two bees — one in the centre, one at the lower right — are stitched small, with transparent wings and striped bodies. The whole range is warm and muted: ochre, beige, olive and cream, and the thirty thread colours work inside those half-tones. The fabric outside the circle is left plain. The branch does not fit inside the circle: its ends cross the border and break off. The petals just touch the edge of the circle, which softens the border. Both bees fly the same way.
