Description

“Holiday mood” — a row of Christmas baubles with folk patterns among white snowflakes.

What the picture shows

The baubles are set in two rows across the whole length, each with its own ornament: a green eight-petalled star in a square frame, a diamond in fine checks, a red and yellow rosette cross, a wreath of small leaves. The shapes differ too — round, faceted, teardrop — and all hang from thin loops. The gaps between them are sown with white snowflakes, every one drawn as a separate pattern. Seven thread colours across 36 m: simple to stitch and geometric in drawing. The grey canvas stays open and reads as a winter sky. The baubles differ in size, so the row reads as a garland rather than a table. The snowflakes are smaller than the baubles and placed so as not to cross them.
