Cross Stitch Kit "Heat of October"
Description
“Heat of October” is a red kerosene lamp with brass fittings, wound about with dry autumn leaves. Worked on light yellow cloth.
What the picture shows
The lamp stands full height at the centre: a round tank, a glass chimney, a wire guard, a bail handle on top, a broad three-footed base. The body is worked in several reds — from brick to almost cherry — with black shadows at the edges and bright highlights. An orange flame shows through the glass. Branches of oak and maple leaves with a few acorns wind over and around the lamp; the foliage is russet-orange, gold in places. The honey-coloured cloth supports that range, though it is fully covered. The glass chimney is worked in pale vertical stitches, through which the wick and the darker burner show.
