Description

“Haunted House” shows a dark mansion under a full moon, with bats and pumpkins around it. A classic Halloween motif without excessive horror.

What the picture shows

The house stands in the centre: three storeys, sharp roofs, a small turret with a weathervane, tall pointed windows glowing yellow. The walls are stitched in blue, purple and graphite, so the building reads almost as a silhouette. A large pale circle of moon shines behind it, and small bats fly across the sky. Bare twisted trees stretch to the left and right, and below are a low fence and several orange pumpkins on the ground. The area outside the circle stays white fabric, which makes the moon read especially brightly. Each window has its own shape and its own shade of yellow, so the house does not look flat. The trees at the sides have twisted branches with small offshoots, the bats are worked in a few stitches each, and the pumpkins below have carved eyes and mouths.
