Description

“Full moon” — a round moon with closed eyes, wearing a wreath of roses and small flowers.

What the picture shows

The moon fills almost the whole field: a warm peach-pink sphere with soft shading at the rim, closed eyes, long lashes and a blush on the cheek. A floral wreath rests on top of it — a large pink rose in the centre, lilac clusters, small white and yellow blooms and green leaves. Blue clouds and a tiny gold star sit to the left and right of the wreath. Thirty-one thread colours carry the gradual shift from peach to pink, and metallic thread glints on the star and on single petals. The background stays as plain fabric. The fabric beyond the moon and the wreath is left plain, so the round shape reads at once. The wreath is deliberately shifted to the left, and that makes the composition livelier than a strictly symmetrical one would be.
