“Frosty mood” — a snow-covered village with a blue-domed church, stitched for a leaf-shaped frame.

What the picture shows

The snow here is not white but built from blue, grey-blue and almost lilac, and that half-tone range is what makes it feel cold. A church with blue domes and crosses stands in the centre, low cottages with dark roofs beside it, a wooden fence and tracks on the road in front. The trees are bare, drawn as thin dark lines, dusted with snow here and there. The sky is pale, slightly pink near the horizon. Twenty thread colours, a small stitch on count 18 canvas, and a composition fitted to the shaped frame. The sky and the snow are stitched right through, so the shaped piece comes out dense with no canvas showing. The tracks on the road and the thin branches are the finest details and are stitched last.
