Description

“Feather-1” is a single large feather set diagonally on black cloth with one burgundy flower on it. Just two floss colours.

What the picture shows

The feather is drawn in outline: fine pale stitches lay out the shaft and each barb separately, so black shows through between them and the motif reads like lace. The lower part of the feather turns into small flowers and tendrils, and a large open flower in deep burgundy with a yellow centre lies near the base beside another dark bud. The black canvas is not filled in — it is the ground. Metallic thread adds a cool glint to some of the lines. The shaft runs diagonally from the lower left corner to the upper right, across almost the whole format.
