Description

“Colors of Ukraine” — a golden trident framed by poppies, viburnum and wheat ears.

What the picture shows

The coat of arms stands in the centre: broad gold shapes with a thin dark border and a light highlight inside. Red poppies with black centres, clusters of red viburnum, small white flowers and green leaves support it from below and from the sides. Ochre wheat ears rise left and right, and behind the trident a blue and yellow flag ribbon is laid in soft folds. Nineteen thread colours keep a clean, almost poster-like range: blue, yellow, red and green with no extra half-tones. The ground is not stitched: the white canvas stays plain and the emblem has space around it. The flag ribbon runs behind the trident without covering it, which is why the symbol reads at once. The wheat and the viburnum are placed symmetrically, so the composition looks balanced.
