Description

“Colors of Paris” is a narrow grey street with the Eiffel Tower standing at the far end and a red umbrella lying on the wet cobbles.

What the picture shows

The format is very tall, 250×640 mm. Parisian houses with attics, balconies and chimneys crowd both sides, worked in nothing but shades of grey, from near white to graphite. The street narrows towards the centre, and it is there that the tower appears through the haze. Cobbles laid in arcs fill the bottom, wet and gleaming. The only patch of colour is an open red umbrella lying on the stone, with its blurred reflection in a puddle. Of the twenty-eight colours, most are grey half-tones. Beads add shine to the drops on the pavement.
