Description

“Caramel spider web” is a bumblebee at the centre of a turquoise web, with pink and red flowers open all around it.

What the picture shows

The bumblebee is shown from above: a striped black and yellow abdomen, transparent wings with fine veins, a furry back. A web spreads behind it in a half circle, worked in pale turquoise stitches — thin, almost weightless, disappearing in places. Flowers crowd around: large raspberry and coral heads, small white clusters, green and glaucous leaves, a few buds. Fine splashes and dots fly off at the edges. The background is light and almost colourless, so the centre looks all the more saturated. Pearls and beads add relief to some flowers and to the knots of the web. The flowers on the right are slightly darker than those on the left, which shifts the focus onto the bumblebee.
