Description

“Bright thoughts” shows a light bulb with a bouquet growing inside it instead of a filament. The idea reads at once, without explanation.

What the picture shows

The outline of the bulb is stitched in pale blue and grey, and the cap in darker grey stitches with a metallic look. Flowers are gathered inside and around the glass: a pink rose, lilac and peach blooms, small red specks, with green and grey-green leaves of different sizes coming out of them. The colours are pastel, almost watercolour, with the cap as the only darker accent. The background is not stitched here — the white fabric works as light around the bulb. There are 26 thread colours, and most are needed for the fine gradations in the petals. The glass of the bulb is not stitched solidly: transparent areas remain between the flowers, showing only the outline and a few pale stitches. The cap has a screw thread marked by horizontal lines, and a dark shadow drops from it, holding the whole construction together.
