What the picture shows

The black silhouette of a gondola with a high prow and stern stretches across the full width, with two figures seated facing each other. A mirror reflection lies beneath the boat, and the water reads as a few horizontal strokes. The background is built of overlapping circles — pale blue, smoky grey, powder pink and cream, each carrying its own lace pattern inside. The whole area is worked in cross stitch, so the picture comes out dense and even. There are dozens of circles of different sizes, partly transparent, overlapping one another like soap bubbles.
